Demonstration begins for "Joint Research on Real-time Flood Forecasting System" targeting inland and outside flooding in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture.
Based on the "Agreement on Joint Research of Real-time Flood Forecasting Systems" concluded with Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Nihon Suido Consultants Co., Ltd. will begin a demonstration of inland and external flooding in the city from November 1, 2024. The demonstration will utilize "Blitz FLOOD," developed by our company.
In this demonstration, the company will grasp the flood damage caused by inland and external flooding in the city, visualize flooded areas using SAR satellites and social media, and support the improvement of the efficiency of staff patrols during rainfall and the establishment of a system for opening and closing floodgates, thereby verifying the effectiveness of real-time flood predictions in regional disaster prevention plans.
Features of "Blitz FLOOD"
This eliminates the boundary conditions between rivers and sewer systems, which was previously considered difficult to implement, and uses a seamless model that can continuously calculate river water levels and water levels inside sewer pipes, making it possible to make highly accurate predictions of both external and internal flooding.
Prediction accuracy can be further improved by installing water level sensors inside sewerage pipes, etc. In addition, by utilizing the wide-area, high-frequency, and high-resolution flood damage conditions captured by SAR satellites, calibration can be performed to optimize conditions.
AI processes certain data collected by the seamless model and instantly identifies flooded areas.
