The special-purpose company Tsubame-Yahiko Water Service Co., Ltd. of which Nihon Suido Consultants Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: MAYAMA Kazunori) is a member, is pleased to announce the commencement of operation and maintenance services under a contract with the Tsubame-Yahiko Joint Administration Union (Administrator: SUZUKI Tsutomu, Mayor of Tsubame City) for an Integrated Water Purification Plant Project for the City of Tsubame and Village of Yahiko.

Project Background

The city of Tsubame and the village of Yahiko in Nishikanbara-gun, Niigata Prefecture have been working to reconstruct their water purification facilities to realize the following: (1) a purification plant resilient to disasters such as earthquakes, (2) a facility capable of reliably supplying safe and great-tasting water, and (3) a system that can adapt to future trends in water demand.

Project Overview

As part of the reconstruction of the water purification facility, four existing plants will be decommissioned, and a new integrated water purification plant will be constructed in the Oigashima area of Tsubame. In addition, the Yoshida Purification Plant (in Tsubame) will be renovated to serve as a water transmission and distribution facility, while the Yahiko Purification Plant (in Yahiko) will be converted into a water transmission facility.

Construction Overview

The “JFE–Nissuicon-Kajima–Metawater–Database–Chuetsu–Ujita–Ohkouzu Integrated Water Purification Plant Development, Design, and Construction Joint Venture,” in which we are participating as a member company, began design and construction work on the Integrated Water Purification Plant along with Yoshida Water Transmission and Distribution Facility and the Yahiko Water Transmission Facility in June 2020.

Separately, the “JFE–Kagata–Ujita–Nissuicon Water Transmission and Distribution Pipeline Development Special Joint Venture,” of which we are also a member company, began design and construction work on approximately 22 kilometers of transmission and distribution pipelines in April 2019. These pipelines will connect the new Integrated Water Purification Plant with existing reservoirs and pipeline networks.

To oversee the operation and maintenance of the newly completed facilities, Tsubame-Yahiko Water Service Co., Ltd. was established on October 23, 2024, and will begin operations on April 1, 2025. The contract period for these services is 20 years, from April 2025 through March 2045.
