River

Our extensive expertise in river management covers the entire watershed from water source to estuaries and coastal areas. We use our wide range of advanced skills for flood control, water resources management and water environment conservation.

  • Horizontal Two-dimensional Simulation

The river improvement works, such as removal, rehabilitation and newly construction of structure inside river and excavation of river channel, have a large effect on improvement of flood safety level. It is important to predict the response and impact on river channel for proper river improvement works in order to prevent redeposition of sand, scour of river bank and bad impact on ecosystem. The river bed fluctuation due to flood can be predicted by the horizontal two-dimensional simulation through calculation of bed load transport and sediment flow by particle diameter.

  • Three-dimensional Simulation

The effective and efficient countermeasures can be applied through applying the three-dimensional model which enables to analyze the following local hydraulic and water quality phenomena more accurately than the conventional two-dimensional model:
・Water flow around intake gate and fences, behavior of polluted water flowing into reservoir and lakes, water quality at closed area (e.g. estuary)
・Water flow around selective intake facility which take water from three-dimensional directions
・Raising from sediment inside reservoir and lakes according to topographic conditions of left and right banks
・Proper installation site and operation manner for facilities on water conservation, such as aeration facility inside dam reservoir

Our developed three-dimensional model consists of following sub-models:
・Three-dimensional unsteady flow model for water flow
    ・Three-dimensional water temperature model
    ・Three-dimensional turbid water model
・Three-dimensional water quality model for COD, nitrogen, phosphorus, DO, eutrophication model including increase and extinction of phytoplankton

  • Integrated Watershed Modelling Technologies to Strengthen Water Security

Our modern computing & modelling technologies makes you a trusted administrator for sustainable management of natural and artificial water cycles as SoS (System of Systems). For example of our modelling experiences, the below is Ciliwung River Basin Model (Jakarta, Indonesia). The land subsidence induced by over-pumping of groundwater resources was reproduced using the GETFLOWS simulator, enabling to compute fully-coupled behaviour between surface water and subsurface water. The estimated water budget indicated that the lack of water amount is approximately 40,000K m3/y and 53,000K m3/y in 2020 and 2050, respectively.
